Poison Catalysts are a special enemy type and one of four variants of Catalyst zombies, originating from the map Voyage of Despair with a focus on the poison element.
Poison Catalysts are the easiest of the four variants to deal with since they tend not to attack directly and instead rely on their poison aura to deal damage. This means they cannot damage the player unless you are nearby, allowing you to easily take these enemies out by staying out of the aura range.
