Round 100 Bossfight
Round 100 Bossfight
This guide will show you how to get to Round 100 and defeat the Z-Rex during this hardcore version of this fight. There is no reward for doing this easter egg other than the challenge itself.
Requirements
All Main Quest Steps Completed
Critical Eye Major Augment
Dead Again Major Augment
Remember you can save & quit when solo to change your augments if needed. These augments are essential for this high-round strategy, which will not be nearly as effective without them.
High-Round Strategy
Elevator Strategy (Recommended)
Once you have all the main quest steps completed, make your way into the Elevator Shaft in the Mainframe Chamber. The strategy is: Stand in the elevator holding the Wunderwaffe DG-2 and wait for zombies to begin running into the elevator and start shooting to stun them, blocking the door, protecting you, and killing the surrounding zombies.

In the earlier rounds, firing one shot at a time will be enough, but in the later rounds do not be afraid to shoot a couple shots at a time, the augment combination will ensure you never run out of ammo as long as you aren't constantly shooting all the time.
Air Lock Strategy
Once you have all the main quest steps completed, make your way into the Air Lock where the HVT Doppleghast was originally held. The strategy is: Stand in the corner by the zombie spawn, hold out your Wunderwaffe DG-2, and alternate fire between the spawn right next to you and the barricade across from you.

This strategy is less beginner-friendly, but it does allow you go through the rounds slightly faster than the elevator strat. Both are efficient so the choice is yours.
Dealing with Elder Disciples
When an Elder Disciple spawns, activate your or throw a LT53 Kazimir, switch to your Ray Gun MKII-W, and unload on its critical point until it is dead.
Dealing with Special Rounds
When a special round comes around, step out of the Elevator or Air Lock and throw down an LT53 Kazimir to deal with the Toxic Zombies, if that does not end the round, throw another one. If you do not have kazimirs, spam your Wunderwaffe DG-2 to end the round since you will be getting a Max Ammo Power-Up anyway.
In the later rounds, DO NOT stay inside the Elevator or Air Lock during the special rounds. If you accidentally misplace one of your LT53 Kazimirs you can risk downing yourself from all the explosions of the Toxic Zombies dying.
The Boss Fight
If you have never done this boss fight before, firstly, I recommend doing the original fight first, second, I highly recommend reading our original boss fight guide so you can understand the usual flow of the fight.
This boss fight is harder than the original one, but not drastically. If you completed the first one, you can also complete this one. The main difference is that after the first phase of the boss fight, the boss will behave like the final phase for the remaining three phases; its speed, power, and abilities are all as if it were the final phase of the original boss fight.

You'll know when the "Hardcore" version begins as the annoucer will say "Tear them to pieces" and a green fog from the Special Rounds, and the Z-Rex will transform into it's final form as seen in the image above.
Just like the final phase of the original fight, movement is the key to winning this fight. You must be constantly moving, weaving between rocks to prevent the Z-Rex from catching up to you. Only damage the Z-Rex when it is either eating some toxic zombies or is far enough away that you can get shots in on its weak points.
Although the fight is slightly harder, you do have the advantage of having a ton of points so you do not need to worry about ammo at all. Use the Wunderwaffe DG-2 to clear out zombies, and the Ray Gun MKII-W to deal damage to the boss.
