Lightning Catalysts are one of four variants of Catalyst zombies, originating from the map Voyage of Despair with similarities to the Shrieker Zombie.
Lightning Catalysts are very similar to the Shrieker Zombie in that they use a Sonic Screech to blind and deafen players hit by the attack; however, this effect goes away the moment the catalyst is killed or stops screaming. It also has the longest range out of all the catalyst variants, meaning you'll need to be more careful when engaging with this enemy by keeping an even greater distance they normal to deal with it effectively.
